My Own Little World

Today I have officially dubbed myself the name Marie Curie The Second, one of the greatest scientists in history. :P Yes, I'm a nerd and yes I accept that. But enough about my awesomeness. ;) Today I'm here to ramble about Valentine's Day. Most people these days are calling it Love Day. My own friend wrote a blog post dedicated to it. I'll admit I'm not the biggest fan of Valentine's Day, but there's something about having a holiday just for love. It shouldn't stop at just love for people we know though. Why not do things that show love to those around us? Showing love is something God has instructed us to do from the start, but we get so caught up in our own little world that it gets hard to be what God wants us to be and do what He wants us to do. We're all here for some purpose and He gives all of us tasks, some easy and some hard. But why is showing someone love on the Hard Task List? Why is helping someone on the Hard Task List? Why has it become so hard for all of us to show even the tiniest hint of love? I'll tell you why! We're all self-centered, greedy humans and that's the fact. It's all about me, me, me.

"What if there's a greater picture? What if I'm missing out? What if there's a greater purpose, I could be living right now? Outside my own little world..."

Those are the words of a hit song by Matthew West called "My Own Little World." We get so absorbed in what we need, what we want, that we never stop to listen anymore. Do you ever look around and think, "Who can I help today? What can I do for someone in need?" Or, do you just keep walking and singing the MeVille song? If yes, you might want to think about changing the lyrics to that song.
